Is there a way to turn off auto-installation of printers?

I have absolutely no use for printers attached to any other computer on the network.

We often have computers (workstations/laptops) that are temporarily attached to our network. Every time they attach to the network, their printers get installed on my computer. I'm getting real tired of constantly having to delete printers I don't use and didn't want.

Any info would be appreciated.

Open a Windows folder, then go to Tools > Folder Options > View and de-select Automatically search for network folders and printers.

[Cheers]

I am also having the same problem, I have a 2003 Small business server, all Workstations on the domain are XP Pro,

I have tried Tools > Folder Options > View and de-select Automatically search for network folders and printers,

The problem is still there.

I have 10 other networks just like this one, all configured the same, this is the only one that has this problem, I have been scouring the group policys for a way to fix this.

The Group Policy item, Administrative Templates/ User Configuration/ Control Panel/ Printers, see if you can
disable the auto discovery via one of the listed options.

There are more options in Computer Configuration/ Administrative Templates.
