Hi,
i have Sco Open server 5.0.6 .i want it to get dynamic ip from the DHCP server. I modified /etc/dhcpc.conf to start the daemon. but still i cant get the dynamic ip from DHCP.
anybody have idea about this?
what actully i want is i want to connect my unix machine to inter net. my cable modem ISP only supply dynamic IP the ISP dosent support static ip.
My question is "in order to get dynamic ip from ISP, what should i do in my system ?"
the answer should be " set TCP/IP setting to get IP from DHCP " i did that but still the system didnt set the dynamic ip. I read somewhere that i should change the /etc/dhcpc.conf file. I removed all comments ("#" from that file & rebooted. Still no hopes.
Is anybody encounterd such problem ? pl. give me helping heln.
Usually an ISP would allocate addresses using PPP instead of DHCP, which I think depends on ethernet addresses; are you sure you're barking up the right tree.
"I am trying to set up the network to look for a DHCP server. I have OpenServer 5.0.6 which fully supports being run as a DHCP client, but when I run netconfig(ADM) to configure the network card and TCP/IP protocol there is no choice to configure TCP/IP to use a DHCP-Assigned address. "
