Hello all,
for a backup server (netware 6) with IDE and/or SCSI Harddisks we want to spin down / switch off a specific harddisk after haveing done the daliy backup job.

what i want to do is: 1) backup
2) dismount backup nss volume
3) deactivate pool
4) switch off harddisk

did anybody now how to switch off the harddisk with a nlm ??

peter

In "MONITOR.NLM", under "STORAGE DEVICES", you can deactivate a physical drive.

Whether or not that actually spins it down, I don't know.

I'm confused as to why you want to switch them off. In my career, i've never heard of anyone wanting to do that before.

I wouldn't want to spin it down because depending on the mood of the hardware it may not spin back up when needed. I would just dismount/deactivate volumes myself.
