Hi I am running CW2000 on a Win2k Srv 1Ghz 1GB RAM and CW2000 needs about an hour to come up..

Does anyone has a hint for me ?

best regards

philipp

Definitely not! I'm a developer of 1 of the applications of that suite, and I know it doesnt need 1 hr to come up. that too ur system configuration is pretty good. it is likely that it is some other problem with the machine. LOL A ship is safe in the harbour, but that's not what it is meant for!!! LOL

When I ran the application on W2K, SP 2 was a major problem. I have since migrated the application to Solaris and have no performance problems at all. Reference all the Cisco documentation on running the app on W2K. My experience was that MS Service Packs and MS security patches may not all play well with the application. If you can live without the patches on the box, leaving yourself open to any number of security risks, I would leave them off, or if the app dumps after installing one, then remove the patch and see if it fixes it.
I spent days and numerous reloads of the OS and the app before I got the OS and the App to play nice.
Then I only applied the MS endorsed patches and service packs after I had made sure that Cisco had tested them with CW2K.

hey vkarthik,

Since you are one of the developers for CW2K, Is there a way to install CDOne in the silent mode? I notice InstallShield is used to package CW2K, any option to record the answer to a file. For example, setup.iss.
Which part of cw2k that you are in charge?

thanks,
Richard

I run CW2k on a win2k sp2 machine with 500mb of Ram and 2x 700mhz processors with no problem.

Make sure you have cw2k patched.

Then start turning off services that may not be needed.
Setup permon to monitor processes you have something out of whack 0 run away process?

Sorry wbp272,

I have no idea about that, but I dont think there is any way like that. Bcoz if it were, we'd be the first to use it, as we r in need of frequent installs and uninstalls. I handle one application in Resource Manager Essentials suite. LOL A ship is safe in the harbour, but that's not what it is meant for!!! LOL

Hi,

I have done severals installations of CW2000 LMS on both Solaris and Windows. Solaris seems always to work fine. W2K plattform installations sometimes work very well and sometimes not well at all. The more "clean" machine it is the better it work. An installation of english W2K with english/us regional settings and the correct SP and correct IE with correct SP is the best. I always install the latest CW2000 patches and the correct W2K SP according to the documentation.

Some installations share the machine woth NNM and those machine often doesn't work so good.

Another thing that seems to slow down the machine is if your run the IE locally on the same machine as the CW2000 installation. Use another machine instead as a console.

Regards
