Hi, is it possible to shadow text within a current paragraph?

I high light text, right click, but no shadow option.

What's a way around?

Thanks.

You can only shadow text that is in a container. So cut out the text. Paste it, it's in it's own box. Cut the box out. Paste it back into your text. Select the box and move it so it's inline with the text. Put a drop shadow on that box and you're done.

2 other ways I found in trial and error: Using ID CS3

1. create outline: type>create outline> then you can shadow but cannot modify text anymore.

2. duplicate text, shadow and put it ON TOP of text (use current text as template).

I liked very much what you said + its modifiable!

Creating outlines can cause you problems, I wouldn't recommend it unless it is a last resort. It could cause fattening of the type on export to pdf or printing. The way I described is probably the safest method.

I have noticed that you have often mentioned to avoid outlining of text in Indd. I have been outlining texts without any problems. All pdf's work fine and print fine.
Let me know what problems have you seen with outlining text.

Personally I haven't seen any problems with outlining of text. But I've read and heard of the phenomenon happening in InDesign. Sources are multiple.
