I used to have 2 T1s, one from XO and a new one from Verio, XO gave me a 1720, and the New Verio gave me a 1605.

and I read some other forum they said the 1720 is far more superior Than the 1605, is this true?

Anyway, I reset the 1720 password because XO set a password I can't get in so I was force to reset it, and now, I don't know how to configure the router so I can use it on my Verio T1.(I cancel XO already that's why)

I have the list of LANIP/WANIP/DNS/SErial0 information on my hand, but how do I configure the IOS? Which menu should I go?

Many Many Thanks!!!! :D

The easiest way for you is to get the 1605 working and copy the config from the 1605 to the 1720. 1700s are the replacements for the 1600. Otherwise it is difficult for someone to configure a router without all the needed info from the provider (type of T1, the routing protocols, next hop gateway etc.)

Can you tell me how to do it then? I mean how to copy the info from 1600s to 1700s?

I have no idea how to use IOS(I'm not a Cisco god) and I starting to feel that the 1600 can't keep up with the small packets(I host game servers with the line)

Or if I can't copy the config, is it possible to me to set it up myself? I have the Wanip/Lanip/Serial0 info only.

Hmmm...
#1 When doing a ptp T1, It doesn't matter which router you use... both the 1720 and the 1605 work excellent. You don't have to worry about which one is faster because both will do the job, and both use the same WIC card to connect a T1 (WIC-1DSU-T1). Sure, the 1720 has a little faster processor, but WHOOPI... your only transmitting 1.54M Believe me, you are fine. (Actually, I like the 1605 because of the dual ethernet interfaces)

#2... You haven't told us what's on both ends of this T1?
I can only assume you are terminating your new connection with your new Internet provider. They should be able to help you setup your router in about 10 min on the phone.
CISCO IOS is VERY easy to use... and even comes with on-line help. You can probably pick up the basics if you are very technical in about an hour of tutoring. (Just think of DOS... everything is command-line/text-based)

If you need more assistance, we need more info about your connection. Many of the ppl here on the list are router geniuses, but they can't read minds.

Good Luck,

That's the problem :(

Stupid Verio didn't tell me what kind of crap is it. All I know is that this is a fiber T1 over an oc-3 line on Fujitsu ADM-150 or something.(Forgot the model, I am sick today and staying home :( Ican look it up tomorrow when I'm back.

because I'already have a working 1605, and both of them using the same IOS version (12.0 something but it's the same I checked on friday) so it might be possible to use the same settings on the 1605 to my 1720. How to do it? I know dos but I don't know IOS :(

:) Thanks for helping Guys!
