Is it an HP printer? Most network based printers can be set up just like remote unix printers (through SAM), all you need is the IP address and the queue name. On HP printers with network interfaces, or HP JetDirect print servers with _1_ port, the default queue names are RAW and TEXT (by convention RAW is normally used for anything non-ASCI). On multi-port HP JetDirect print servers the queue names start with RAW1 and TEXT1 for port 1, and go up from there (ie. RAW2 for port 2). Most non-HP network printers and print servers can be set up just the same way, just check your documentation for the proper que name to use with the IP address.
is it a laserjet 8000dn? if so, you configure the printer's network interface from the lcd panel on the printer... press the menu button until you see a jetdirect menu. once you have all the appropriate network settings in (ip, sm, gw) then use sam to add the printer as a remote printer, use the ip address and RAW for the queue name.
