Hi,

Can someone advise or maybe I speak with...

I am trying to setup/test with a couple of ATA186's that I have just got hold of. What I would like to do is set them up together locally in the same network, no going through the internet, and then to a colleaue over the internet.

1.. Can I setup two ATA186's back-to-back, or do I have to use CCM to set the call up - this being locally.

2.. If I wanted to use one ATA186 locally and set another one up with a colleague via the internet, again can this be done on a point-to-point basis or do I need to use CCM.

Would appreciate your comments and advice, nice ones please :)

Thanks in advance.
John

It can be done on a P2P basis, how I'm not sure..

But yes it can be done..

I think what you have to do is define the Directory numbers on the ports, then for the gatekeeper/callserver you put the other ATA in there.. so when you call the DN of the remote device, it will do a call setup to that box, pass the digits, then the remote device will process the call..

Hi Buckweet,

Thanks for the info, need more digging arround. If I stumble/figure it out will let you know.

Thanks,

you need the 323 load on the phone.. then you can dial via ip address instead of number.. use a phone with speed dial connected to the fxs ports. will make your life easier..
