Hi folks!

I use hard drives as a backup media and therefore don't have media pools. My task is to rotate backups done by the custom schedule. I noticed that *.ctf files accumulate in the respective folder for a certain device. How would I setup to overwrite them let's say every week?

Sincerely
Eugene

backup to disk is via FSD File System Device, FSD is a directory that ARCserve has been configured to treat as a tape. So configure the backup job to overwrite tapes and it will overwrite the FSDs.

Hi David,

Thanks a lot for your input. May I ask a question? Where exactly one can configure the job to overwrite tapes or FSDs. I have 4 tabs for every job: Source, Staging, Destination and Schedule

On the Destination tab I have Group and Media options which are chosen to point to the previously configured Device.
Should I create Media Pool first and then use Rotation option when I format this Device?

Eugene

Ok, got it.
So if I chose "Overwrite Same Media Name, or Blank Media" that will overwrite the media. The question is still the same, how would I set it up to be overwritten let's say in a month?

the tape is overwritten just prior to the job running, so in a month when the job runs it will do it.
