Dear all :
How could I setup a re-direction on DNS, since if I type " will automatically divert into another link " under my brower. Since my web-page is under the big company domain and I need to put my formal dept name first, then with the domain name. Thus what can I do next under DNS ? Please advise, thx so much

George

You want to have another DNS name for the same IP, or do you want it so when a machines browsers to a certian URL is will redirect to another site?

The first you can do by creating a CNAME entry in DNS.

The second requires you to change the property of a page, folder or site in IIS. Instead of pointing to a local resource which hosts the site, you can tell IIS to redirect to another resource - e.g. a website.

Good luck,

Steve.

Dear Steve:
Since a new user, so where can I add the CNAME under my Win2k's DNS server. Tkx so much ..

George

Go into your local domain in the DNS snap-in and right click in whitespace. Just click 'Add CNAME' and enter in the details.
Although it's worth pointing out that the CNAME must point to another record in your domain. (I think it's only A Records it can point to, but I'm not sure.)

If you want it so that when users browse to they get redirected to then you will need to edit IIS to redirect the user by editing the site or the folders properties.

Steve.
