How to set up on Win 2000 server for remote desktop connection

How can I set up on Windows 2000 server to allow users to connect the server from their desktop computers? What need to be done on the server side?

I got error message everytime I am trying to connect from WinXP pro PC to the server. This is the error message: "The client could not connect to the remote computer. Remote connetions might not be enabled or the computer might be to busy to accept new connections. It is also possible that net work problems are preventing your connection. Please try connecting again later. If the problem continus to occur, contact your administrator."

We have multiple server systems, this is the only one giving me the error message. I have no problem using remote desktop connection to connect other servers. What would be wrong? Thanks.

You need to provide more details. Are you looking to remotly administer the machine or are you looking to configure a Terminal Server?

First verify that the machine does not already have sessions disconnected. Windows 2000 has a limitation of 2 connections for Remote Admin mode. At the actual console see if there is a Terminal Services Manager in the Admin Tools. If there is, open it and logoff any disconnected sessions by right clicking them and choosing log-off.

If you don't have TS Manager, you need to add the Terminal Services. This is done via Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs- Windows Components. You do not want to add Terminal Services Licensing. That is only for Application mode.

theres are few thing you can do first just to make sure both machines "see each other" 1st check in my network places...if its no there then ping it. for the sake of typing I am going to refer to them as "pc's" 1st ping the pc, the go to run-->cmd----><pcname>/c$(use any drive but cd or dvd..just to see if you can access admin shares.) net go to run--->mmc---> add services make sure computer browser is started the check, net logon if its not dont worry you wont be able to start it locally,server,and workstation.
