Is there a way to set the switch to night mode without an ATC?

Trying to use a LOCANA number, and it isn't working even when the switch time was set to evening hours.

Is there a setting where you can choose the hours that are for night mode, or just to set it to that?

It is my understanding that if there is no ATC, then that system is considered to be always in night mode.

I don't know what you mean with ATC, but you can program night and day hours with the beruz-command. With the berum-command you can see which beruz-groups are active. Example berum-command:

ab-berum:allbum;

This command shows in which beruz-groups extensions are in. Note down which beruz-groups you need, in this example beruz-group 15.

ab-beruz:15;

This command shows which time-tables beruz-group 15 uses. To change the time-tables uses the following command:

einr-beruz:15,3,6-30,aus,22-30,aus;

15 stands for the beruz-group
3 stands for the day of the week
6-30 stands for an activation/in-activation time
aus/ein stands activation on or out
22-30 stands for an activation/in-activation time
aus/ein stands activation on or out

NOTE: if I execute this command between 6:30am and 22:30pm the day-time will end at 22:30pm. If I use after 22-30 the ein-parameter the PABX will stay in day-mode.

Success!
