Hello Folks,

I have a working phone on my desk and I would like to also have a phone in my server room. Is there a way to create a duplicate phone by cross connecting them in the wiring closet? I have no need for serperate DID's more lines or a difffernt extension, and in fact that might be rather difficult as resources are low and I just want to know if my phone is ringing when I am in the server room and if its internal I would like to see who it is before i pick it up...

I have seen SBC and the like cross connect phones on the wiring closet but I am not having any luck... it pretty much seams as if the phone are stuck in a booting loop...

It would be nice not to have use up another whole port to get a second phone that just is a twin or clone... like 2 analog lines on the same number... is there a way to do this?

Not sure what version of the software I have, its a Norstar digital system... the phones are M7310's...

thanks!

Is this a BCM or Norstar?

When in doubt RTFM (read the friggin manual)

Look for Answer DNs
Press Show
Enter your Server set
Add your desk Set

You now have an Answer DN key on your Server phone for your desk phone.

No, that's not what I want... I know how to do answer DNs...

Lets say that I have only one port on my phone switch open, and that is the only port I have available to me... is there a way to have 2 phones plugged into the same port?

Is there a way to have the phones be identical, cloned, be the same phone, just in different rooms? Ring at the same time, etc ,etc...

I am starting to see it may not be possible, but I swore I have seen tech cross connect access ports int he closet on a digital system... maybe they were only doing so to create multipul access ports for that extension?

curly correct...on a norstar can not do it...option switch you could...swap out n* for single cabinet option 11

Are there any other reason? because that is exactly what Answer DN is for.
No you cannot put 2 sets on the same digital port, the whole idea of digital is to avoid that.

well yea the reason being is I don't really have a port to waste on it... thanks for the answers... I suppose the best way would be to use a port but save a DID and use an internal extensions and use answer DNs...

thanks

It sounds like you want to daisy chain your extension to 2 jacks. That'll work fine, but you can only have 1 phone plugged in at a time. (take your set with you when you need to spend some quality time in the server room.)

Ah, good suggestion... that would work... thank you all for your input... I understand my options now, thank you!

if you use konex you lose handsfree on main set..yes you can i had a customer i set up with 3 of them

The last analog "b-channel" device I used on a set was the "StarNexus" about 4-5 years ago. Is the Konexx similar in use?
