hi, i need to know how to set the downstream and upstream to the default 8.032/.864 without reseting the configuration of the router... the rate are set to 256down/256up the default is 8032down/860up.
I have to ask you a question. What is the speed of the dsl service from your provider? What is your vpi/vci?
This site has some programming instructions.
This is what you need !!!!
maxvcs
Sets the maximum number of virtual connections (VCs).
rate
Sets line rates.
up rate-number
Sets upstream ADSL line rate.
down rate-number
Sets downstream ADSL line rate.
down:baud rate-number
Sets downstream line rate and baud rate.
The Cisco 678 in in DMT will default to the max speed (8032down/860up) at every powercycle and/or reboot. However, in training to the DSLAM, it negotioates a working line speed, either the max the line signal to noise ratio will allow, or the speed programmed into the ATU-C port. As you're getting 256down/256up, I suspect that the speed is throtled by programming for the port at the DSLAM. Who provides your DSL line? If they only provide so much bandwidth, anything over that available from your ISP is wasted.
put a sunset tester or another XDSL tester on the line and
verify the up and down speeds. We have indicated this several times in the post. You may be pushing the XDSL limits and this will cause lower speeds. Jeter@LasVegas.com
