Ha - Ok ! - I remember now - ! - sorry about that
Here is the procedure for the Non-Display OpenStage 10
Plug in the phone to a working Digital Line
'The operating mode of an OpenStage 10 phone is changed via the 3 function keys.
1. Initially, all 3 LEDs of the function keys are off. Press the rightmost function key for at least 5 seconds.
2. The current active phone operating mode will be indicated by the LED on one of the other two function keys.
When OpenStage mode is active, the middle LED glows by itself, whereas in OptiPoint mode the leftmost LED glows by itself.
To toggle between modes press either the leftmost or middle function key depending on which mode is currently active.
From OpenStage to OptiPoint mode - press the left most key
From OptiPoint to OpenStage mode - press the centre key
For completeness - the Switching Procedure for OpenStage 15/30 is:
1. Press the menu button (three parallel lines) for at least 5 seconds.
2. The menu LED starts flashing and the phone mode selection menu is shown on the display. The currently active phone mode is shown.
3. Press the Up or Down/left or right arrows to change mode - when you have the correct mode selected press the 'OK' button to store.
4. Press OK again to confirm the selection and activate the chosen mode - after 5 seconds the phone will perform a restart and will start up in the new mode.
Just curious, I never heard (or had to do with this optiPoint modus of a OpenStage phone), is this to connect a OpenStage to an old system that doesn't support OpenStage?
Or what else?
And which systems will that be? Can't you upgrade them?
Yes, for instance you can add OpenStage 15 phones to HiPath 4000 Version 3 -
The V3 system was released long before the OpenStage phones
So, you have to make them 'backward compatible' to that system by setting the phone to be OptiPoint which the old system understands.
Also if you use CP210 on V8 or earlier you set it to OptiPoint mode and then change the TAPRO
Money - some customers have multiple sites (100 or more sites) that's a lot of upgrades and money to upgrade all the sites.
They evolve and may move to OSV central platform - it depends - but end users will always require phones and if you can't get OptiSets/OptiPoints then the newer phones still have to work on the older systems.
Version 3 for example - these system are over 20 years old but are still used - so you add on phones - put them into a keymap for 19 button OptiPoint and then change the keymap to suit the new phone - however, the phone has to be put into the OptiPoint mode - it will not work in OpenStage mode.
I understand, but there won't be any support on those old versions. Let alone security issues are not solved.
But with newer systems comes a new "problem": old phones aren't supported anymore.
The system is hipath3800v8, which is a separate system and not associated with the IP network, so the impact caused by security issues is minimal. Customers mainly use Microsoft's Skype to meet their communication needs, while continuing to use Hipath3800 in certain specific situations.
