Hello,

Whenever I open new link in Internet explorer the new window opened with fixed small size and I need to maximize it. How coan I change that so every link that is opened in new browser will be opened in a maximized Window?

I agree, but something must be causeing that bug to manifest itself. As to what, I haven't a clue. Personally I would probably live with it. But if ie behaved itself recently & thelordoftherings has a suitable restore point that must be worth a go.

Generally speaking, when software suddenly starts behaving differently to normal the first question you need to ask yourself is "what have I changed recently

I would tend to agree except when, for example, automatic updates are enabled, e.g. programs like Norton AntiVirus.

My particular favourite [not!] is Windows Update which, until recently, kept turning custom System Restore settings back to MS defaults, changing custom Recycle Bin settings back to MS defaults, changing IE's home page to MS's redirector if you swapped accounts, changing custom settings for IE's TIF cache back to MS defaults and, on at least one occasion, turning the Windows Time Service back on... to name just a few I've noticed <grin>.

As a result, it's become more difficult - in my opinion - to assume these days that it's something you must have changed yourself.

Couldn't agree more Rick998. It's all a bit of a nightmare. I don't use automatic updates for that very reason. I know people who swear my Norton - but myself - I can't stand it.

I'm afraid I'm one of them... I used to recommend Norton over all others until 2 things happened recently.

One was that I had to un-install NIS 2005 on 2 different customers' PC's to get their dial-up connections working again.

The other - far more worrying - was that I tried Nod32 on one of my home PC's and it found 2 trojans that had been on it for more than a year (going by the 'file creation' date) that Norton AntiVirus had missed completely. Eek!

Also, most people assume that Norton AntiVirus' automatic updates will keep Norton up-to-date... not realising that it's only virus definitions that are automatically updated, not the program itself... meaning they have to run regular manual updates as well.
