Hi all,
I have Netware 6.5 servers originally with 1GB RAM. I recently increased the RAM to 2GB. When I view System Resources in console monitor I get:

Allocated memory pool 293,634,048 14%
Cache buffer memory 328,880,128 15%
Cache movable memory 0 0%
Cache non-movable memory 110,592 0%
Code and data memory 59,681,432 3%
Miscellaneous memory 1,464,757,608 68%
Total server work mem 2,147,063,808 100%

It has been running for 10 days now. I also recently installed Veritas Backup Exec 9.2 which says it wants to see 65% in Cache buffer memory, which I see as 15%. I am not sure the extra 1GB RAM is doing any good.

Do I need to increase cache buffer memory?

If so, how do I do that?

Thanks for your help,

CaptKirk

Novell changed the way memory is handled in NW6. You looking at Monitor, doesn't really show you what you really want. Go into Remote Manager and look at the memory config there. Look at Available Cache Memory, you'll see your fine and dandy. The only real tuning you can do to NW6.5 is select Tune Logical Address Space.

This link should give you a better idea;

Thank you, that is much better. Available Cache Memory shows 1.6 GB. The pie chart shows 47% available cache memory, 43% file system cache,10% NLM memory.

I really appreciate the info,
