how to set constraint for an entire field 1

Hi there, Could anyone please tell me if I could set a constraint type "must finish on " fixed for a column.For example if I have two projects one finish on July 10,2014 and other finish on december 12,2012,then if I change start date or duration then the finish date does not change for these projects.I know I can set finish date to "must finish on" for an individual project but if I have 500 projects then it is time consuming to change to "must finish on" constraint for each of them.I was wondering if I could set the entire "Finish field" to "must finish on" so that they remain constant for each projects.I will really appreciate your help.Thanks in advance.

No, sorry. Constraints are set on tasks, not on projects. If you do not want dates to change - you can use manually scheduled tasks. Then after the initial link the tasks will not move due to changes in predecessor data.

However, using Manually scheduled tasks sort of defeats the purpose of using Project.

where I found the following statements.At one point it said for all task do the following.Could you please tell me if it is talking about changing constraint type for all projects or may be I am thinking in wrong direction.I dont see the "project guide" in my project ribbon to see how it works.I really appreciate your help Julie.
Change the constraint type for a task
You can change the constraint type for a task in the Project Guide, the Task Information dialog box, or the Constraint Dates table.


Make constraint changes by using the Project Guide
1.On the Project Guide toolbar, click Tasks .
2.On the Tasks pane, click Set deadlines and constrain tasks.

3.Do one of the following:
To select a single task, click the task name.
To select more than one task, hold down CTRL and click each task name.

4.Under Constrain a task, select the constraint type that you want to use for the selected task or tasks.
5.Click Done.

The help you reference is for Project 2007 and the Project Guide is no longer available.

You can apply a constraint to every task in a project file by using the Task Information dialog. Select all tasks, click the Task Ribbon, click Information, Advanced tab and select the constraint type. If you don't set a constraint date - it will equal the currently scheduled date.

You can only constrain autoscheduled tasks.
