How to send SMS with foxprow 2.6a

Is it possible to send SMS with foxprow 2.6a with help of WEB. or any windows command line tool.

There are email options, but for Fox 2.x, none are very pretty.
You may be better off automating Telnet or something.

Or, an even better suggestion, convert your FPW2.6 application to Visual Foxpro 9 where you would then have available a whole multitude of enhanced capabilities.

Remember that FPW2.6 was created before the Web even existed for general use. Therefore it was never developed with the capability to support features that were not even imagined back then.

The conversion to VFP9 sounds daunting, but it sometimes is not too bad depending on your specific code.

Regardless, it ends up being worth it in the long run by bringing the application up to 21st century feature capability.

Thank you, Dave & jrbbldr : Real story is I have developed pretty big project mini-ERP with FPW2.6 It's running very good from last 10 years approx. It is upgraded time to time to meet several desktop based requirements. I stuck-up with two modern requirements.

1) Send SMS
2) Remote data access.

Send SMS : While googling I found SMS.JS is cscript based file but still I could not use it. WAY2SMS is free website is available to send sms in india. But I don't know how to use it with fpw2.6

Help me if you have more information.

While I do not have any more suggestions to help you find an SMS option for FPW, I can say that as a consultant occassionally assisting a few clients with the old Foxpro applications, I can tell you (and you most likely already know yourself) that most of those clients yearn for a 21st century application - even if it is only the look and feel of a 21st century application where 'under the hood' it is essentially the same application.

While they greatly appreciate the stability of an application that they have been using for years, they want something which can utilize current technologies (such as the SMS you mention or other features). And they want something that 'feels' like it belongs in this century.

Additionally, as your client base sees more and more of new 21st century features in other applications, they will continue to want them in your application. So it might be SMS capability today, but tomorrow they may want something else.

Admittedly it is good that you are not using an old DOS version.

As I said above, the conversion from FPW2.6 to Visual Foxpro might be relatively easy since all of the FPW2.6 code runs under VFP9. Heck there is even a 'converter' within VFP that can be used - although my own personal experiences with it has been mixed.

The biggest changes would come from re-working your Screens into Forms, but most, if not all, of you Screen snippets would go directly into various VFP Form methods.

The other area of change, if you are not already done so now, would be converting your @SAY/GET reports to using Report Forms.

But once the conversion was done, you would then have a whole world of functional options that were not available to you under FPW.

I agree, modifying more than 100 screens in vfp9 takes lot-off time. Already I have used some tools which is not possible in fpw2.6 for me.

For exmaple with following code I can handle printer.

CSCRIPT prnmngr.vbs /?

Above code can run with fpw2.6 RUN command.

I would be happy if I got some command line tool.

and creating a script on the fly and then RUNning it from FP?
