We are at 4.3.3 of the AIX operating system and need to send emil thru our webserver which is behind our firewall. We can send to name servers that we can ping but not to those that we can't. On version 3.2 we could uncomment the OK MX line in the sendmail.cf file but don't find a corrisponding line in the sendmail.cf file on our current release. Can anyone tell me what and how to change so we can send email to internet addresses from within a program.

Thanks

Configure sendmail to send email to this smtp... so you can send email to all poeple you want!

Just want to share this with you, i just read this one and this might be a big help to you...

shipped is configured to only send mail to mail addresses which include a host name. Many organizations use a mail address whose "host name" part is not a host name (technically an MX name). To change the configuration of the AIX mailer, login as root. Then edit the file
/etc/sendmail.cf to remove the comment marker ("# ") at the beginning of the line which reads:
# OK MX

Now rebuild the machine readable form of the configuration with
sendmail -bz

and finally restart signal sendmail to load the new configuration by one of the following:
reboot
or
stopsrc -s sendmail
startsrc -s sendmail
or
kill -1 `cat /etc/sendmail.pid`

RE note from BONSKY that works, should say worked, with version 3.2 but nothing like it, that we can find, in version 4.3.2 and up.
