How to send an attachment through unix?

Just needed to send any kind on attachment using mail or rmail? How does on go about doing this?

you could try looking on the web for 'mpack' and 'munpack'
I know it's kludgy, but it's a nice command line tool bit like a cross between mailx and mimencode ...

Hi ,
U can send an attachment as follows:-
#mail abc@def.com
~r /opt/test
<Press Ctrl+D>

This mail sends the contents of the file /opt/test but not the file as a whole.
