I know how to set up alets in the performance logs. But what I need to do is be able to send a text message to a cell phone upon an alert from a windows 2000 server.

Does anyone know how to do this?

You may need a third party tool to help accomplish this. What specifically is it you are looking to be alerted to?

I am looking to be able to look for certain things, like an specific error in the log, disk capacity, etc. I need the message to call my cell phone.

What third party programs would do this?

There are a couple of different tools that come to mind which can accomplish this but I would focus on SysTrack from Lakeside Software. SysTrack can alert based upon different system conditions; CPU, disk capacity, event log entries, service status, etc. The alerts can range from an audible alert, email, page, snmp, or pop-up message.

Can your cell phone receive email messages?

Check it out when you have a chance,
