I would like to generate audit reports monthly on a SCO Host version "SCO OpenServer(TM) Release 5".

Currently we login and use the scoadmin menu system to do this manually.

Is there a work to do the same thing without going through the menu system. Then setup a cron job to execte & ftp the results?

Thanks, Will

Additiona version info:

uname -a
SCO_SV kalynabw 3.2 5.0.7 i386

use the scoadmin menu system to do this
So, which option(s) are you using ?

Hope This Helps, PH.

Thank you for the response and sorry for my delay I got side tracked on another issue.

Here is the current procedure being used.
Thanks again for your help!
Will

1: From the command line # scoadmin au
2: Select "report"
3: Select "generate"
4: F3 to list
5: Select file
6: F3 to select report template
7: Select "File" for output
8: Input path for report file to be generated

You can use "expect" to build an expect script to simulate the actions you outlined, and also perhaps run the expect script from cron to fully automate the process.

man expect

There are also resources on the Internet with actual examples to flesh out the rather technical man pages.

Thanks Pat

I checked my SCO host and I don't have man pages for expect.
Should have "expect" been installed by default?

If I need to add it is there a particular version I should Google for?

Thanks, Will

You can find expect for SCO here:

ftp://ftp2.sco.com/pub/skunkware/osr5/vols/expect-5.30-VOLS.tar

D/L it into a dir (I keep patches and such in /usr/local/patches/<name of package>)

extract it with tar xvf <file name> and follow the directions in the readme.

I will try it out tomorrow!

Thanks Pat!
