Ive totally forgot how to do it ive basically got pictures that i need rounded corners on, i can remeber that i used the rounded corner rectangle tool and i thought CTRL and c or g but i cant remember any help would be brilliant.
Cheers
As far as I can remember, there is NO such thing as rounded corner marquee in Photoshop. There are however ways around it. First trick is try to use a shape tool and pick the rounded corner rectangle. Second trick is to fake it and create your own, something to this extend, click on the sample link.
Thanks but it isnt that it was really easy but just cant remember it its just putting rounded corners to photos i remember using the rounded corner rectangle tool and then adding the photo to it on another layer and then using ctrl and something else, basically everything outside the rectangle was deleted to the background colour like the tek-tips partner logo on the page.
Your final photoshop doc will always have corners on them, If you want to give the impression of rounded edges, place a frame (with rounded edges) of the same colour of the paper ur using to print ur artwork, and place it on top of all the layers. This will cover the corners.
If your using this artwork for onscreen instead of print, use the same colour as ur background.
This will give the impression of a rounded edged image.
Select the square marquee tool (dotted line) and set it to feather the edges at whatever radius you want. You can then select Inverse and delete or create a clipping path. You may want to claen up your path a little, but I think that is the bare bones of how to do what you need.
Theres yet another way to get rounded edges!
Create a new layer and fill the entire layer with black. Next select the rectangular marquee tool, set the colour to white and then draw a selection to roughly the size of your photograph. Fill this selection with white then Gaussian blur the layer (the amount depends on how big a radius you want the edges to be, might take a bit of adjusting!). Finally Hit Control + L and adjust the layers to give a rounded shape (bring the left and right sliders into the middle slider). You could then select the rounded shape and use it to create a layer mask on your photo.
I think the command you are looking for was Ctrl G. I think you where trying to clip the photo into a rounded corner shape.
This is what you need to do. Create a new layer Click on the shape tool and make sure the option for Paths is selected up top. Then create a rounded corner shape path. Right click on your path and select fill path. Fill the path with black. Now place the photo in a layer above it. For Photoshop CS I believe the command was Ctrl G, however in Photoshop CS2 you need to hold down the Alt key and click between the layers.
Use the rectangle marquee tool, then in the select menu go to modify and smooth. The higher the value the more round the corners will be. Then you can cut it mask it whatever.
