We have either 10d or 11d (I forget) in our office. What are the steps required to restore just one file off the tape backup?! I accidentally saved one file from last year when I meant to save it into a different directory.
Depending on the version you have its normally just
on the Restore tab at the top of the application.
It should popup a wizard of some sort and it should show
the available selections you can choose from.
It should show the server / workstations you have backed
up before and have available data to restore.
From there you drill down looking for where you originally
had the file just like if you were setting up a new
job selection.
If you know of a date when the file was good you can
change the area where it says View By to Media instead
of Resource. That way you can see on what day which tape
was used , pick to restore it and it'll ask for that tape.
Also if your just restoring a single file select to restore
it in a different location so you can verify it is correct.
If ya need anymore help lemme know, i've used Backup Exec
since version 8.7
Thanks for the help. I was hoping I didn't have to create a job to run just for one file.
I've did what you said and it'll work. I just have to locate the file now. I've found our network drive M: but the network drive I: I can't find it's contents.
Doing the restores can get a bit tricky especially if
you have complicated backups that do anything other than
a complete backup each night.
If you can't find it in the backup and you really need the
file you might want to try and get ahold of a copy of
EZ Recovery Pro and then actuall recover the file from
the harddrive. You'd be running out of time to do a
harddrive recovery tho if the system is writing alot of
data to that drive.
