I am using the .net Mail class to send emails because I need to be able to control the from address, but I need to be able to resolve recipient names. Any one have a solution for this?

There is no perfect solution for this. There are so many different combinations of email address formatting that it's not possible to validate all of them. For example, you need to be able to handle .info, .net, .biz, as well as the various country formats: .co.uk, .cc, etc.

Could you use the Resolve method in System.Net.Dns?

I know it wouldn't check for the validity of the user but could it be used to check if the domain is correct?

This is an internal email server that will not be handling many email address combinations or countries.
