Hi.
My system has hdisk0 and hdisk1. I need to replace hdisk1. There are two directories within one vg on hdisk1. The vg is only on hdisk1. I have the replacement drive and a good tar of the directories on hdisk1.
What are my specific steps to replace the disk, make the system recognize the new drive as hdisk1, and then restore the directories from tape while preserving the vg.
Thanks.

If your system can handle all the drives, then install the
new one. Add it to the vg of the failing drive. extendvg - then use migratepv to move all the data from one disk to the other.

Thanks.
That actually sounds easier than restoring from tape. Can you give an example of how to use extendvg and migratepv? I've never used either of those commands.
Thanks again.
John
