Hi

I had a system currupt file error and reinstalled another copy of win xp home onto the same drive, but called the new windows folder 'windows2'.

I have now fixed the first copy and want to remove the second one I installed.
But I could do with some pointers on how to do this please, as I thought I could just run an un-install?

When I boot I get two Windows XP Home options to choice from, the old and the new. It's the new I want to ditch.

Hope someone can help.

Many thanks

Happy.

In your control panel System Properties, Advanced Tab, Startup and Recovery, settings button; that will let you edit your boot menu options.

Meanwhile, once that is edited to remove the second boot option, you *should* (notice the modifier there) be able to just delete the Windows2 folder.

You might want to do a backup first. :)

Delete the second windows folder.
edit the boot.ini on the root drive and remove the appropriate line.
