We are running 11.5 SP2 with SANS option and SQL DB. When I look at the DB through the Database Icon, there are old records still showing under the Media Records. Is there a way to remove these records without having to do it manually? We are running the prune job every day.

Thanks

What is showing underneath the media records ?

ARCserve stores records into the databases in the following order:

1. jobs
2. sessions
3. folders
4. files

the prune job will mark 3 and 4 as deleted when the prune job runs. 1 and 2 will remain into the database to keep some track of media that has been used by ARCserve, these remaining records use very little disk space.

Thank you for your help.

It is as you said - item 3 and 4 are deleted. I was told to investigate why the old records (item 1 & 2) are still there and how to get rid of them. When we try to set up restores, our system is very sluggish. Quite often, it sits in a screen long enough that we end it with task manager and reopen the manager. They were thinking that maybe the old records were causing the problem.

Is there a way to remove these records automatically if my higher beings say they want the records gone? What affect is there if the records are removed?

Thanks again for your response.

my suggestions is: don't bother trying to remove database records manually. It shouldn't be the cause of the screeens hanging, it is time consuming and needs to be part of a repeating routine you have to setup.
Concentrate on the SQL database and maintain this on a regular basis. Also make sure your ARCserve configuration is up to date,
