We are writing an interface to send delimited files to send to another vendors system. The problem is the file is working with the exception of the carriage return it is picking up at the end of every record. Is there a way in Informix 4GL with SE to stop this from happening? Thanks for any help. We are also using this on RH Linux and SCO UNIX platforms.

Scott:

If I'm understanding you correctly, you create files to be sent to another vendor's system. Is the vendor's system windows or DOS based?

If so, I doubt the 4GL application is creating the CRs. This probably happens when the file is copied to the destination system. That's where the problem is.

I've written tek-tips faq

faq80-1911

that address removing CRs but it uses Unix tools.

Ed
