I am currently having a problem with the size of my users NSF files. Even if I instructed them to delete everything they do not need the size of their NSF files remains the same. I even told them how to save their attachments to the hard disk to free up a lot of space.

I am running Lotus Notes/Domino 4.6

I tried running load compact at the Domino server prompt without much success.

Anyone has a clue about how to reduce the size of these files?

Nevermind, I am a moron.

If you have to use the load compact command make sure the users are not using Notes! [dazed]

Welcome to the club ;-) !

Seriously, though, archiving mail and managing mail file size is a major hassle. I have been in Notes consulting for eight years and I have never once come across an organization of fair size (500+ employees) that did not have mailbox size pains of one sort or another.
If the compact is doing enough for you now, you will probably still want to map out an archival plan for the future.
Also, check the server logs and paramters to make sure the compact is running every night. That will hopefully save you the hassle of having to run it manually during the day.
