For all of the folks that depart or move offices I know we have many DN's still programmed but no one is using that extension anymore, and no phone is physically plugged in.

Is there a way to reclaim unused DN's by running a command that tells whether or not a phone is plugged in, thus allowing you to out the phone and reclaim DID numbers?

I would unplug or disable the sets in question, and wait for complaints..... Then just out them, that will put the DN's back as avaiable... There is no real easy way to tell other than keeping records of the employees as they leave

If there Digital phones and you have LD 30 running in DROL, if there unplugged they will be disabled.

If this is a Option 11c Do
LDIS 0 Main Cab
LDIS 1 2nd Cab
LDIS 2 3rd Cab ect

Larger PBX

LDIS X LOOP Number do this for each loop

This is an Analogy so don't take it personally as some have.

Why change the engine if all you need is to change the spark plugs.

ld 117
inv generate midnight

then anytine past midnight

inv prt sets

after the gen command you will get a new report eacy day. that shows the as built and the actual as well as the missing digital sets.. analog require a frame audit.

Thanks all for the help. The inv prt sets worked great, we had quite a few that we can reclaim.

with 8K stations i run it every week, usually recover a couple of tn's and dn's as well as stopping a few "upgrades"

I have inherited a system in use 24hrs a day 7days a week 365 days a year, spanning two opt61 and six opt11's with several thousand stations.

As I read the documentation, LD 117 inv generate midnight will down the stations. Any ideas in my situation to inventory my DNs?

Thanks in advance

inv generate will not down your stations. it is however a cpu hog, so don't run it at peak traffic times.

And it does not give you Analog stations.

MagnaRGP - thanks for the clarification on Nortels often confusing documentation. I plan to run this at 2 AM on a weekend when we have least traffic.

acewarlock - 98% of my stations are digital, I'll audit those by hand.

Thanks to both.

ld 117
inv generate midnights

then any time you need it. inv prt sets

that locates not only missing phones but any that have been swapped so the actual does not match the as built... i run that once a week.. with 7000 stations i get disconnects due to construction that i would not know about without 117...
