how to query external modem

its connected to one of my external plugs in the back. Can't think of the name of the plug, but i know its plugged in and working properly in windows. Oh, and its not a parallel, USB or firewire either..... its the other one...

It's plug and play I know that as well. All i have to do is tell linux which com port its on. I've done this once before with several modems including the one I'm currently using, but that was a very long time ago. I'm running suse 7.3 from the professional package. If possible, I'd like to know how to configure my modem in both yast as well as in the console.

the plug is the COM1 for linux it is /dev/ttyS0
For configuration if you ve got KDE go to kppp in the K menu Bar
