I need help to purge the iminvtrx.btr data. the size now reached to 3.3GB. Can someone tell me what is the correct method to do it; easy and safe.

In Progression, you would run a transaction history report and check the box that says "purge file?" Under I/M - Reports - History

I have not done it in a few years but I am pretty sure that this is how I did it.

If you are a btrieve system, purge the file will not gain you any space. It will free up room in the existing file for new records. You would have to rebuild the file to get the room back.

Celeste,
Are you selecting the date range for the data to be purged off? for instance from?

Yes - I would test it first in a test company just to be sure - and backup first of course...

I back up the IMINVTRX.BTR, then I purge 3 month blocks using the Inventory Transaction history report, making sure that I choose the purge box. Then I rebuild the file. Works fine.

DBergkamp10,
how big you iminvtrx.btr size? and how long will take to purge and rebuild, roughly.
