how to programaticly set password on pdf

You can't do this solely using Acrobat, but you can with third party tools

offers a solution which will work with Acrobat 5

I use pdf encrypt(pdfenc.exe) when I send the 128 bit encrypted pdf to my hotmail account and and open it the pdf file is corrupted. How come?

No idea I'm afraid - is it ok before you send it? If so it sounds like a hotmail problem.

Yep it's ok when I send it. When I put 128 bit security from acrobat 5.0 and send it to my hotmail there is no problem.
