I think you need the VB Animation GIF OCX described by the author as follows;

"VB Animation GIF OCX is an animated GIF control for Visual Basic 5/6. It supports most GIF89a standards, including animation, looping, delay time, and so on. It has many features, including autosize, stretch, etc. This control also supports JPEG and BMP formats. You can even analyse every frame of the GIF with this control. This control DOES NOT use any other additional controls to animate a GIF. It's just written in pure VB codes and the size of the control is very small."

i havent tried it but it looks like a simple solution to what u need.

get it here:

Ok i tried it and it works great. Its not Freeware though
:(

Easiest way is to use the WebBrowser control. The disadvanatge of this technique is that anyone without IE 3 or above won't be able to use the program.
