Hello,

I have been using remote desktop to remotely access my server. I have been using ipaddres:port to connect. After a recent Windows security update I am no longer able to connect. I can see from my router that it is accepting the port and forwarding to the server, but the server is rejecting it.

It appears as though my port is no longer open. I don't have Windows Firewall turned on.

Is there a way I can open my port or is there another way I should bypass that security update?

Thanks,

Brian

Are you connecting on port 3389? when you say windows firewall isn't turned on is this on the server or your PC? do you have ISA or anything similar installed?

Regards

Have you tried connecting without using the port, it may have gone back to the default port after a reboot or update. If you have ILO or local access you can check the registry to see which port has been configured as well, also remote reg may work to check.

Biglebowskis Razor - with all things being equal if you still can't find the answer have a shave and go down the pub.

Open a command prompt and try
Code:
netstat -a | find "LISTENING"
