I need to do an inventory of pbx's, is there a way I can obtain the serial number of a switch (G3r, S8xxx) through ASA or Shell?

The S8xxx series processors use the serial number related to an IPSI board prior to Release 6. In release 6 Avaya moved to the WebLM model and uses a host ID.

For CM5 or below you can run the command serialnumber to get the serial number of the "Golden IPSI" board.

In CM6 you will really need to get the information from the Avaya Licensing site. The serial number can actually be one of several host ID addresses.

The G3R used the serial number of the hard drive controller. To find the license record in RFA you will need to know some key piece of information such as SID (does not show in early releases), customer name (then guess which SID is the one your looking for), or serial number from the MSS Net Controller.

Older versions of CM were manually licensed and don't rely on a specific serial number. Features were enabled by the 'init' login.
