How to move GP v6 to new server 1

I need to move GPv6 from NT4 SQL Server 7.0 to Win2003 SQL Server 2000, in 7.0 emulation mode. I copied over databases etc., using MS Knowledge Base 314546 and KB 246133, which always works for non GP servers. When I bring up GP, I can login to server okay, but when I try to login to company, I get error message "Your login has been removed from the user activity file and you cannot be in the accounting system". I checked the Dynamics Activity table, and it is empty. Does anyone have a solution for this? Do I need to follow a different procedure to copy to a new server? I do not have the benefit of Microsoft Customer Source, so I am on my own here. Thank you for any help you can offer.

Wow. Sorry. This system kept losing my password from page to page. Yes, I copied over logins/passwords, tables, grants, etc. as per Microsoft. I even used their "How to transfer an existing MS GP installation... to a new server" KB. I have tried to connect to the DB with sa and some user logins/passwords, and they are okay until I attempt to login to the company, then I get the error noted in my first post. I have already checked the DYNAMICS ACTIVITY table and user access permissions on the company. I thought there might be some script or something that I am missing. I am stumped at this point

Go under your company's database in SQL Enterprise Manager and verify that the sa account was added to the database. I've seen times where the login would be made, but the user would get missed on the database.

Next query is do you have crypto.dll on your new system? I'm not an expert with this dll, however I've been told that it handles the encryption/decryption of the user passwords. If your old system had used it to encrypt your passwords before saving them and now you don't have it, then it will give you an error. A way to test this is to clear the sa password and attempt to log in. If you can get in, then that is probably the problem.

btw...the Activity table is a holding table of users that are logged in. If noone is logged in, then it should be empty.

Thanks for the replies. It seems if you do not copy all of your test and defunct databases over to the new server, this will cause the error "Your login has been removed from the user activity file and you cannot be in the accounting system". Once I copied them all over to the new server, I was able to login.

DOH!!! You're right. Theres a DEX_LOCK and DEX_SESSION table that gets put into tempdb. I completely forgot about those

Wow. Thanks for that! Now I know where to look next time I stick my foot in it. I love the way MS likes to keep all this info hush-hush so that people need to get that super expensive service contract. I'm gonna write this one down for next time.
