we have a retention time of 2y for some datas.
At the moment we have LTO1 drives but we will change to LTO3 (can read LTO1 Tapes).
My question is how can i copy/move the datas from the LTO1 Tapes to the LTO3?
LTO1 Tape have a capacity from 100/200GB LTO3 from 400/800GB
so it should be posible to copy/move 4 Tape to a new LTo3,

But how can i do that?

Thanks for your answer
Stephan

Do you have thought about the "cloning" in the NetWorker?

The destination pool cane be changed from "clone pool" to "backup pool" afterwards.

Michael

yes
but cloning means 1 tape is copied to another tape.
but the new tapes will be LTO3 Tapes (the old are LTO1)
Im looking for a way to copy 3 or 4 old (LTO1) tape to one new Tape (LTO3)

Manual staging (nsrstage), not cloning would be the right procedure.

cloning in Networker works on saveset level.

If you clone a cupple of savesets/volumes, the destination volume(s) will be written until they are physical full.

It´s no "one to one" copy of a volume!
