Hello,
I need to make some computers show a pop up screen that basically tells the user that the PC is the property of the company and its not private and subject to monitoring and yadda yadda yadda.

I would like to be able to create or copy a proper PC security / privacy warning and make the employee click "OK" button every time the PC boots up.

I am using windows XP and I have no scripting knowledge or programming knowledge so if anyone knows a very simple way to make this happen I would really appreciate it. Maybe a free application? Windows XP setting?

Thank you very much!

forum779 would have been a better place for this question.

Anyway, XP actually has a setting for that.

Go to start-> run, and type in "mmc" without the quotes.

This will load the Management Console. From there you'll need to add in the Group Policy Snap In.

To do that, click on File, then on Add/Remove Snap In
Click on the Add button, and look for the Group Policy entry. Select it and Click add, then click on finish.

Click o.k to get back to the console screen and navigate to Local Computer Policy -> Computer Configuration -> Windows Settings -> Security Settings -> Local Policies -> Security Options

When you select Security Options you'll get a bunch of options on the right hand pane. Scroll down to find the Ineractive Logon section, and look for the "Message text for users attempting to log on", and "Message title for users attempting to log on", entries and double click them set those up as you would like.

You may need to restart the PC to see the effects though.

Thank you very much for the great detailed reply. I have one question though.

When I go to add / remove snap in and click "add" button and then look for "Group Policy Entry" I only find "Group Policy Object Editor" Is that what I am looking for?

Thank you very much.

I will post this in the XP forums you mentioned.

Thanks again.

Actually please disregard my reply. Your instructions were dead on. Thanks very much!
