How to make convincing screenprint effect?

I wish to make a convincing screenprint effect, with the look of various inks overprinting one another.

I am importing vector shapes into photoshop, changing the hues, and then setting each layer on "multiply".

As they are, these shapes are too clean edged, and of even colour consistency, to look like a convincing screenprint.

How might I be able to increase the realism of the effect I am trying to acheive? (apart from actually screenprinting the design!) By what means can I mimic the various imperfections of a screenprinting process?

Thanks!

I have done poor colour consistency by rendering a cloud effect with 2 almost identical colours but the edges of the shapes would need to be treated seperately.

Has anyone got a more specific method which they can offer up?

\Thanks again!

Use Filter>Pixelate>Colour Halftone. it gives you a screen effect, make sure you're in RGB mode first.

Thanks for your tip, but I don't want a halftone pattern. I'm thrying to mimic the look of the ink and opacity aof a flat panel which has been screenprinted, not a halftone screenprint.

How about using Artistic>Watercolour set to 14,0,3 on top a copy of the layer and set it to dissolve over the original at about 70%?

Perhaps a layer mask of the image (or words) with a bit of noise added to it. That will give you a distressed border on the image(words) which would be completely random.

Hope it helps.

Wow JT that almost looked like you knew what you were doing!
