How to make Active Directory work as a clustered service?

I am setting up Windows 2000 Advanced Server Clustering and have not yet figured out how to make Active Directory and DNS work as clustered services. For instance, at this point, I am not able to successfully create a user on the "failed over" server (also running as a domain controller with active directory). I am not sure if this is a fault of my clustering or of my installation of active directory. Any suggestons would be appreciated.

Not sure about AD/domain controller issues on a Win2k cluster but to my knowledge you can't cluster the DNS service. I've put DHCP and WINS on but no DNS. I guess it could still run as a service on each cluster node but not as a resource you'd set up in cluster administrator.

Q281662 seems to address this issue a little bit (if you haven't seen it already).

Your comments are very helpful. They confirm the conclusion I am drawing closer too. It is true that DNS does not seem to work as a clustered service--I think that my solution will simply be to run both servers as a DNS server as you suggest.

As far as AD goes, I made my second server an additional global catalogue server, and it seems to allow me to accomplish the things I hoped to achieve.

I knew about DHCP working as a clustered service, but I was not aware of the WINS option. I will try that! Thanks!
