Hello

I am new to crystal reports.
I am trying to make a report that will
be 12 cm wide and 5 cm in height.

This will then be printed on a printer
that prints labels to be used on shelfs in a wharehouse.

My problem is :

The report is working, but it only prints in A4 format.
When I print the label the text is really small.

I suppose this is a simple settings somewhere,
but where, sofar I have been unable to find it.

In enterprise when I preview the report it is in A4
format. When I publish it, and then later runs it. It starts
acrobat reader and from there I print it.
In acrobat I have tested changing the format of the printer
to the correct size, but it dont help.

It seems like I must setup the report to the right size
before it starts acrobat.

Anyone who knows ??

Best Regards

Ulf

Here's what I did....

1. Installed the label printer on my worksation (default paper size is 4 inches by 2.5 inches) To change this, right click the printer and choose "Printing Preferences"

2. Selected the label printer in Crystal Reports Designer

Crystal then "automatically" set my report page size to that of the default printer page size (4 x 2.5)

I was able to write and save the report ensuring that I would not insert data which would not fit on my 4 x 2.5 inch labels. Plus I can actually print the report to any printer which supports paper sizes of 4 x 2.5 or above (8.5 x 11 for example)

I have done as you said.

The printer which I am printing to is a
STAR TSP 412 line modem printer.
It is on a windows2000 OS.

It is located on another computer in the network
then the one I have crystal enterprice on.

Therefore I shared the printer.
And connected to the printer.

Then I opened Crystal Reports. Selected
the printer STAR TSP 412 line modem printer.
Selected size 75*33.
And it works. I test and print the label and it looks okay.

But then I quit Crystal, and later reopens the report.
Crystal do not remember the papersize ?? I have
tested this several times. I change to 75*33 and
then save and close. WHen I after that reopens
it is the correct printer, but papersize is letter ??

This is a problem since most who uses the report do
not have access to crystal directly. They use
a webinterface to print the report. And since
it is letter-size the labels do not look good.

I have found an error report on crystal care technical support.
it adresses the problem.

But do the printer have to be installed locally for
crystal to remember the papersize ?? Shouldn't a
printer distributed over the network be enough ??

I have tried getting new drivers for the printer but it did not solve the problem.

Hi,

I don't know if anyone's still checking on this one. But you need to copy settings int the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\Current version\Devices to the HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT....\Devices. Same for PrinterPorts along same path as above. Make sure you copy the values exactly.

Hi,
Which viewer are you providing the report through?
Both Java and ActiveX will allow for Printer selection, but, as the Support note indicated, the client accessing the report MUST have that same printer defined and accessable on their PC - but it can be a network shared one..

[profile]

( Printing is a client-side function so it uses whatever the user's web browser 'knows' about - fonts, printers, system-based colors, etc )
