Do you know a way to low level format a seagate disk using the FCLI on a FC4500 ?
The "setdisk" FCLI command doesn't work.
The disk is seen as "not supported".
I guess it's because the disk is formated with standard 512 bytes blocks ?
1. Make sure it has the correct Clariion firmware
S/B 7A0x for a 146GB Seagate
2. You can use SCSI Toolbox. Demo available.
to reset block size to 520. Then do the re-format
3. Mode page 19 needs some changes or the drive
will have a LIP. Log in Primative issue.
4. Make sure drive has 12V only at the bottom label
If not it may not start in a full DAE/DPE.
6.32.18 is where 146 support was added in. The latest Flare rev I'm aware of for that box is 6.32.20.
Still, you have a version that supports the drive so, you should be able to just pop it in and the clariion will format it (or should) automatically. I have taken 512 formatted disks and put them into a clariion before with no trouble. the box took care of the format. It may be that not all 146 gb disks are supported. Seagate is most prevalent. May even be a disk code issue.
