how to limit bandwidth using iptables >NewBie 2

hi, Good day!

hi iam new w/ linux redhat, i have setup interent sharing using iptables, now i want to share it evenly w/ other units any suggestion on how to setup (step by step) will appreciate a lot.

Bandwidth arbitrator is probably the best, but it requires a kernel patch and compile. The damned thing takes forever, but it's decent once it's up.

The thing is it's a bridge fileter. If you want QOS, go enable it in the kernel, and compile with them. Then you got to create the queue commands.

ipmenu is really nice tool (apt-get install ipmenu), and keeps your net-filters in an understandable place.

kreepykrawler's suggestion of using ipmenu is a good one. If you try writing your own qos rules using tc it can take a bit of time to get used to the concepts. ipmenu atleast helps get you started.

Since your on redhat you will have to fetch the ipmenu package yourself (apt-get is a Debianism). You can find it here:
