One of my DC's spitted out almost a thousand instances of the same error before I rebooted it. Now, I am trying to figure out what happened. The error itself is sort of generic - Event ID 2000 - The server's call to a system service failed unexpectedly. There is more useful info in the Data section. But I dont know how to interpret it - can anyone please advice? Thanks.

PS - its a windows 2003 std SP2

I would take a look at eventid.net

From this web site you can enter in the event ID and source. It will come back with a better description as to what the issue is. There is a plain english version of the error message but you have to subscribe. Without a subscription you can still read a lot of the information.

Another tip is that when you see a link to something like M290301. To go to the link you need a subsciption. However if you go to Microsoft's web site and search for 290301 for instance you will get the KB article that covers what the person was talking about.
