I'm running Windows 2000 Professional. I tried to apply patches for the newly found Sasser worm, but the patch is not getting installed correctly, it says that the Service Pack of Win 2000 should be more than 2. I think, I have service pack 1. I tried to download and install service pack 4 from Microsoft Website, but it is not getting installed properly. Half way through the installation, it throws some exception and aborts!

How do I resolve this problem??? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Can you tell us EXACTLY what the exception says or post a screenshot?

By the way, this is the Win2K SERVER forum, not the Win2K Professional one....

The exception says
"Unable to connect to metabase"
and then it says
"Setup failed to remove ism.dll script mappings. Service Pack Setup will abort"

What does this mean?

Did a Google search and this problem does not really have a solution except to run the install in Safe Mode and also to disable and/or un-install IIS (Internet Information Services) then reactivate/re-install IIS AFTER running the SP4 update.

Good Luck!
