How to install Apache

I know this is an extremely beginners question, but well, I'm a begginer .

I have installed it before using random server information (ie, gmail.com for domain name,

http://www.gmail.com

for server name, etc...), it communicated with php, but when i created a test file, it said there was error with apache, and i think that'd be it.

If it's any help, I'm using windows XP, and trying to work on the latest php with Apache and mySQL.

Any helpwould be appreciated, thanks.

I just used apt-get install apache
