I HAVE A STRING SUCH AS T123 IT IS A PRIMARY KEY IN ONE OF MY TABLES. ALL I WANT TO DO IS THAT WHENEVER I WANT TO ADD A NEW RECORD I WANT THIS KEY TO INCREMENT BASED ON THE VALUE OF THE PREVIOUS RECORD.
I THOUGHT OF USING THE DEMAX FUNCTION AND INSTR FUNCTION BUT IT DIDN'T WORK
PLEASE HELP

see faq700-184 You will need to modify the code to your exact specififcations but the entire process is well cocumented.
